Description: Trios for oboe, clarinet and bassoon by three Hungarians, two Poles and the Czech Schulhoff. Lutoslawski's neo-classical work from 1945 wasn't published until 2003 and gives a very different picture of the later modernist. Hidas (2007) uses accessible melodies and harmonies in his almost "light" idiom, Schulhoff's 1925 piece is full of references to popular music and jazz, Szalowski's 1936 trio also neo-classical, motoric in rhythm and full of humor, Szönyi (1958) is in the form of a baroque suite but modern in harmonic language and Veress', as usual, makes much use of Hungarian folk styles in his 1931 Sonatina. EastWind Trio d'Anches.
