Description: World Premiere Recordings of seven of the Prussian King's flute sonatas performed on exact copies of the Quantz flute (made of ebony and ivory, its larger bore and greater length than other contemporary flutes required playing it a low French pitch and gives it a contralto sound) and Silbermann fortepiano which would have been used by Frederick and his keyboard player. Recorded in the very Music Room at Sanssouci Palace where Frederick had his concerts, this recording is accompanied by excellent notes by the flutist (who also edited the manuscripts) and a booklet with color photos of the Music Room and of a portrait of the King. Mary Oleskiewicz (flute), Balázs Máté (cello), David Schulenberg (fortepiano).
