Description: The 1963 Musica Concertante is a three-movement concerto for orchestra which plays strings, winds, brass and percussion off each other as groups while offering solos for some members of each. The other three works show Linde's "light music" side - especially the six-movement Suite Boulogne of 1966 which imagines an orchestral concert in a summer bandstand in the Boulogner Park in the composer's home town of Gävle. A Merry Overture (1954) is a blast of high-spirited fun in the genre of English "Comedy Overtures" and the Suite Variée (1959), the only piece here previously recorded for CD (for Caprice) is a five-movement work in neo-baroque "suite style" (Prelude, Pastorale, Chorale and Finale) with a second movement Hambo (a 3/4 Swedish dance from the late 19th and early 20th centuries). Gävle Symphony Orchestra; Petter Sundkvist. 2009 release.
