Description: Most people who think about Rubinstein as a symphonist probably think about his forbiddingly long Ocean and Dramatic symphonies and doing so can make you forget how dynamic, zippy and fresh-sounding some of the others are - like this 42-minute one from 1866, which seems like it's over before you know it. But then, having written all of his symphonies before he turned 38, it shouldn't surprise us that this sounds like the music of a young man, should it? Original 1985 and 1987 Marco Polo releases.
