Description: And you thought there were only two wind Ballades? One for flute and one for saxophone? Well, it turns out that Martin arranged the saxophone ballade of 1938 for flute, intending to guarantee more performances on the more popular instrument. But this arrangement was not discovered until 2008 although it was probably made before 1941. So this disc, which gives us the original flute/piano and flute/organ works as well as their subsequent orchestrations (Ansermet's in 1939, Martin's in 1941 and Desarzens' in 1958), makes for a tidy package for Martin completists. 2 CDs. Emmanuel Pahud (flute), Francesco Piemontesi (piano), Tobias Berndt (organ), Orchestre de la Suisse Romande; Thierry Fischer.
