Description: This Canadian composer has built his reputation on choral music; here we have music for string orchestra: a Fiddle Suite which uses entirely original material in the style of Canadian folk tunes from the upper Great Lakes region; inspired by a one-line poem of a sail on a seascape, One Sail's solo cello takes a 15-minute transcendental journey in music seemingly equally inspired by minimalism and Vaughan Williams while the final work is a tone-painting of film-score quality based on the famous World War I poem by John McCrae.
