Description: World Premiere Recordings of music by three members of this notable Russian Jewish family. Alexander's stylistic career is encapsulated by his early, late Romantic Esquisses (1902/11), Scribinesque Poèmes (1915, 1920 and 1922) and the Socialist Realism of the Jewish and Turkish themes of the mid-20s and 1930 while the two largest-scale works are his brother Grigori's 28-minute, single-movement sonata (1924) which treats several elements inspired by Jewish cantor chants to increasingly complex harmonies in up to twelve parts (also sounding very Scriabinesque) and his Julian's astonishingly mature 11-minute sonata of the same year whose harmonies are very, well... you know. Jascha Nemtsov (piano).
