Description: Albergati's six cantatas were published in 1717 and are almost completely in a delicate, sensitive and intimate devotional style, the music's sweetness intended to make the religious message of the texts the more easily apprehended by the listener. Interspersed with the cantatas are eight Marian motets from the previous century, whose solemn polyphony and, in the eight-voice works, homophony, provide a striking alternative to Albergati's cultivated style.
