MARCO ENRICO BOSSI (1861-1925): Violin Sonatas No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 82 and No. 2 in C, Op. 117.

Description: Amazingly, Tactus has not recorded either of these sonatas in its big Bossi series; I could only find an older recording on Ducale, a label with no U.S. distribution. Dating from 1893 and 1899, these are purely northern European in style, no hints of bel canto or Italianate melodies, just good old Brahmsian working of motifs in a thorough and often inspired fashion but also not lacking sweetness and passion.
