Catalogue Number: 05J070

Label: Chandos

Reference: 10457X

Format: CD

Price: $10.98

Description: This 18-year-old release brought us the first recordings of a 20-minute ballet (From Dusk till Dawn) from 1917 - a rare ballet by an English composer of the 20th century pre-Constant Lambert, and a 46-minute score of incidental music (21 segments) to a play by J.M. Barrie which was commissioned for Tamara Karsavina, Diaghilev's prima ballerina, who danced the part but otherwise was wordless throughout the play. Needless to say, we're not in the area of Celtic myth or massive symphonic structures but this is a useful addition for Bax collectors who may not be aware of this aspect of his production. London Philharmonic Orchestra; Bryden Thomson. Original 1990 Chandos release.
