Description: The father of the French symphony finally gets some love from a French-speaking record label in this new release of the three symphonies of 1765's opus 8. New to listeners at the time would have been the four-movement format of two of them - with the new minuet and trio - and the use of clarinets. However, Gossec could also look backwards, as in the 21-minute suite of dances from the 1773 ballet, which is in the orchestral tradition of Rameau. Les Agrémens; Guy Van Waas.
