Description: Tomasi's set of virtuosic, intensely rhythmic (and rhythmically complex) dances (1948), redolent of savage non-European cultures and ending in a wild and frenetic "War Dance" is worth the price alone. But Jolivet's 1945 Sérénade also has its rhythmic complexities and adds strange, modal harmonies to let us know that we aren't exactly firmly in Europe here either. Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet.
