Description: Like last month's ArcoDiva release with this orchestra, this is music for strings, with two of the same composers presiding. Bodorová's 2009 work uses direct quotations from Machaut as well as techniques from his medieval period and Macha's strongly melodic work from 1993 also draws on medieval songs and Protestant hymns. Since the disc celebrates the 700th anniversary of John of Luxembourg becoming King of Bohemia, there are two Luxembourg composers represented whose music, while completely tonal, has nothing to do with the medieval world. Quattro Orchestra; Marek Stilec.
