Description: Smaller-scale 20th-century French music for the trumpet or, in the case of the Romanian Mihalovici and the Japanese Shinohara, music from composers who studied in France and were greatly infulenced by French teachers and composers. It’s all mid-century stuff, the earliest Le Boucher from 1934 and the latest Shinohara from 1960 with virtuosity to the fore and no truck with avant-gardisms. Reinhold Friedrich (trumpet), Eriko Takezawa (piano).
