ALESSANDRO SCARLATTI (1660-1725): Humanità e Lucifero.
Catalogue Number: 07M018
Reference: OP 30498
Description: Dating from 1704, this is an example of Scarlatti's "simplification process" which he practiced between 1700-05: none of his usual severity and learned counterpoint; a simple, melodic with beautiful vocal parts and a great variety of instrumental color. And, when many oratorios could last 150 minutes (see directly below), this one clocks in at 46 (two Corelli sonatas are used as "intermezzi"). Italian-English texts. Rosana Bertini (soprano), Massimo Crispi (tenor), Europa Galante; Fabio Biondi. Original 1995 Opus 111 release.
