Description: The largest scale work on this new volume is the cycle of seven songs setting Japanese lyric poetry (Niponari - 1912) which shows the young composer transitioning from late romaticism to impressionism. Except for the two Songs on Pages sets, which date from 1943, the rest are early songs from 1910-1912 and are First Recordings. Texts and translations available on-line.
