Description: This promises to be a very attractive series as D'Indy's piano works are practically unknown. The Poëme is a three-movement tone-poem which tells a love story in a mountain location, with both Berlioz and Liszt strong influences on the young (1881) composer. The 37-minute sequence of 13 Tableaux from 1888 operates in the Schumannian genre of the nature picture, inspired by a walking tour of the Black Forest and the Bavarian Alps. From the other end of D'Indy's career, the Franckian-titled Thème... (1925) is a mature composer's magisterial exercise in absolute music. Michael Schäfer (piano).
