Description: A glimpse into a lost world - Russian-Jewish music performed in the period between the world wars. Zeitlin was a violinist and gifted arranger but most of the music here was either “trad.” or written by other Russian Jewish men of the late 19th century. Some are arrangements of arrangements but this was the norm for the genre, its performers and its audiences. Russian (Cyrillic), Yiddish-English texts. Rachel Calloway (mezzo), Guenko Guechev (baritone, speaker), Daniella Rabbani (speaker), Musicians of the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival.
