Description: Baroque forms in Classical dress in these works from around 1810 and around 1824 respectively. The 42-minute variations and rondo on a little gavotte from an opera by Grétry are a textbook example of the marrriage of an original, questing approach to variation style with a performer’s sense of humor, wit and timing (nine of the variations even come with programmatic titles in the score!)
