Catalogue Number: 09K051
Description: These Romantic violin concertos by the Belgian Bériot (published in 1841, 1842 and 1848, although they probably were composed earlier in some cases) differ in form but their content is consistent: broadly flowing melodic themes, often seemingly inspired by the bel canto vocal models of contemporary opera) with ample opportunity for the soloist to display his technical prowess. Nos. 2 and 3 are full-fledged, three-movement concertos lasting around half an hour each, No. 5 is also in three movements but, at 15 minutes, much shorter. Philippe Quint (violin), Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra; Kirk Trevor.
