DOMÈNEC TERRADELLAS (1713-1751): Sesostri.
Catalogue Number: 09N018
Label: RCOC Records
Description: The second in the Royal Chamber Opera Company's intended complete Terradellas opera cycle (it would be ten in all), gives us his last, performed at Carnival 1751 in Rome. Obviously, his most mature work, it contains his characteristic dramatic intensity, achieved through strong contrasts of color and texture, dynamic, key, time signature and tempo. His ingenious orchestration (he was among the first opera composers to make great use of woodwinds and brass) particularly looks forward to the high Classical period. 3 CDs. Italian-English libretto. Sunhae Im, Alexan-drina Pendatchanska, Ditte Andersen (sopranos), Kenneth Tarver, Tom Randle (tenors), Royal Chamber Opera Company; Juan Bautista Otero.
