Description: P.D.Q. Bach's "serious" music is always good-natured, often humorous, and imbued with love and respect for the "real" Bach's counterpoint skills (two of the five movements of A Year in the Catskills - a 2009 commission by the performers here - recall baroque canon techniques), while often referring to popular styles (Dream Dances of 1988 puts Minuet and Sarabande side-by-side with Jitterbug and Galop) or structures (literally: 1963's Diversions evoke billiard balls setting each other in motion and a New York City bar). Blair Woodwind Quintet, Felix Wang (cello), Melissa Rose (piano).
