Description: There are 101 individual movements here and the music itself dates from 1922 to 1994. Collectors who know Françaix will know that they can expect here just what they get from his orchestral and chamber music: charm, wit, elegance, precision, clarity. Some of this music is for children, some about children; Si Versailles and Napoléon (1953 and 1954) are duet versions of film scores, Scuola (1933) a ballet on themes from Boccherini.  The rest are minatures or suites of miniatures (even the 1960 sonata is miniature - four movements but less than ten minutes in length). 3 CDs. Martin Jones (piano), Richard McMahon (second piano), Adrian Farmer (duet).
