Description: These interesting works help keep the fading name of Ghedini before collectors, while such coevals as Dallapiccola seem to be on rather a rising course. The 1947 Il belprato is a bracing and refreshing piece with a neo-baroque first movement, playfully virtuosic second, polytonal third with hints of Stravinsky and a short, brisk finale to wrap things up. From 1950, L'Alderina contains bright, cheerful evocations of birdsong, a crystalline pavana of water music in which a solo celeste splashes moonlit water across the soundstage, followed by a romantic evocation of an azure mountain evening. The sonata da concerto (1958), is a bit more stern and veiled, a still and chaste evocation of what seems to be an interior landscape of the mind, but still recognizably neo-classical in its style. Francesco Parino (violin), Stefano Parino (flute), Stesichoros Chamber Orchestra; Francesco Di Mauro.
