Description: A full 79 minutes of Krenek's personal brand of dodecaphony and atonality with the big pieces being the Symphonic Piece of 1939, one of his first works upon arriving in the U.S. and one of his more complex polyphonic scores, the Elegy of 1946 which was an in memoriam piece for Webern and which shows how dodecaphony and expressivity can work together, and the 1952 Sinfonietta whose powerful rhythms are not samba but hark back to the machine-like, motoric works of Krenek's youth. Leopoldinum Orchestra; Ernst Kovacic.
