Format: CD

Price: $11.98

Description: Premiered in 1926, this product of the jazz age was the first composition from Künneke after he'd spent two years working on Broadway. The orchestrations were lost during the war (apparently the saxophone had a prominent role) and this radio broadcast was, according to the notes, somewhat slapped together without the greatest of care. But the sound is as good as in the Kálmán above and, although there was a 2004 revival in Cologne, this is likely to be the only way you're going to hear this particular work for some time. Also includes 50 minutes of Künneke's Traumland from a 1950 Hamburg Radio broadcast. 2 CDs. Anny Schlemm (soprano), Franz Fehringer (tenor), Willy Hofmann (baritone), Cologne Radio Choir and Orchestra; Franz Marszalek (April, 1953).
