Description: Apparently a world premiere recording, Hiller’s quintet dates from 1873 and is of Brahmsian length (37 minutes in four movements) although it could have come from decades earlier, the main musical influences being Schubert and Schumann (speaking of whom, the piano used here was built by his wife Clara’s cousin). Tobias Koch (c. 1860 Wieck piano), Pleyel Quartet Köln.
