Description: World premiere recording of the Sonata lyrica - and probably the first-ever performance at all, the manuscript of the 1937 work having been found among the papers of an Australian pianist-friend of Scott's. The first movement has a perfumed, nocturnal character, the slow movement is a bleakly melancholy nature meditation and the finale a wild dance. The remaining works are lighter in style, the Fantasia Orientale being a true virtuoso piece (dedicated to Heifetz), while the salon-style others include arrangements of piano works by Kreisler and three others, all practically contemporary with the piano versions' publications. Clare Howick (violin), Sophia Rahman (piano).
