Description: You'll be familiar with Avison's orchestrations of Domenico Scarlatti keyboard sonatas but these concerto arrangements of Geminiani's 1716 violin sonatas were only discovered in one of Avison's workbooks which just appeared in 2002. Geminiani, of course, was perhaps the most popular Italian import to England of his day and, since Avison's second workbook also contains orchestral arrangements of Geminiani's Op. 4 violin sonatas, we might be hearing those to from this ensemble led by the noted violinist Pavlo Beznosiuk. 2 CDs.
