Description: Made in January of 1994, these would have been world-premiere recordings if Lyrita had not gone into a coma at the time and been unable to release them. Two other versions of the Coleridge-Taylor concerto now exist, one other of the Romance and Harrison's Bredon Hill appeared earlier this year on Dutton Epoch. But the 1897 Legend, a seven-minute lyrical tone poem which seems to anticipate the mature Delius, is available only here. Lorraine McAslan (violin), London Philharmonic Orchestra; Nicholas Braithwaite.
