Description: This final volume brings much material that has never been recorded (nine items so claimed) or only rarely so. As a glance at the titles above will tell you, these are short pieces or suites of short pieces, with dates of composition from as early as 1916 (preceding his move to Paris and his jazz period) to 1957 when he was in Rome. Rujana, the Czech name for a German vacation-island in the Baltic, is the longest piece on the disc at 5:23 and also the earliest, a little tone-poem which Martinu called "a sea fantasy". Giorgio Koukl (piano).
