Description: In this recital of Swiss lieder, 32 of its 74 minutes are devoted to the father of the soprano, a pianist and composer both of whose cycles recorded here date from the 1960s and use declamatory melodies, repeated patterns in the accompaniment and a personal kind of atonality to set poetry by two Jewish authoresses a generation apart, their often aphoristic brevity a direct response to the shortness of the poems themselves. The remainder of the recital is tonal (Ringger's 1954 cycle was the last tonal work he wrote) with Hegar and Burkhard in the German Romantic tradition while Bloch's songs from 1903 are redolent of Debussy and French Impressionism. French and German texts. Noëmi Nadelmann (soprano), Oliver Schnyder (piano).
