Description: Completed in 1890, the first concerto is, like its disc companions, in single-movement form with several sections in cyclic form and the biggest influence which can be heard is Borodin. The Rhapsody, from 1907, came just after the Transcendental Studies and demands an extraordinary virtuoso technique as it deals scintillatingly with three Ukrainian themes. Identical program to the Hyperion Romantic Piano Concerto release of November 2002. Shorena Tsintsabadze (piano), Russian Philharmonic Orchestra; Dmitry Yablonsky.
