Description: A tour of Venezuelan popular music types is heavy on the country's favorite import - the Viennese waltz - but also includes the merengue, the joropo, peasant songs from the llanos (flatlands in the countryside). At the heart, and at only 5:36, the longest work here, is Sojo's five-movement suite for guitar. Used on around half of these pieces is the ukelele-like plucked string instrument, the cuadro. Seven of the twenty pieces are arrangments for the voice and instruments employed here Spanish-German texts. Fabiola José (voice), Anette Maiburg (flute), Nirse González (guitar), Jesús González Brito (cuatro). SACD hybrid
