Description: Is it just the quality of the oboe that makes even the dyed-in-the-wool Romantic Roentgen sound a bit Impressionist? Probably, although these two oboe sonatas are quite late (1918 and 1928). The other three Dutch composers also provide attractive, often pastoral-sounding short pieces. Sheri Mattson (oboe), Juanita Becker (piano).
