Description: Written in 1931 and 1937 while he was engaged in folk-song collecting, Veress' quartets feature the folk impulse along with more modernist tendencies, more of which appear in the 20-minute string trio from 1954 which is new to disc. CD 2 and part of CD 3 contain a 1975 radio recording of Veress reading (in German) “Song and Music in Hungarian Villages” (103 min.) and a 54 min. interview (in German) with the composer’s son fills out the third disc. 3 CDs.
