Description: De Boeck's 1894 sonata (previously recorded in a version for cello) is the sort of violently passionate, deeply expressive thing which spells Romanticism with a capital "R". Huybrechts (1925) deliciously inhabits the twilit world of legend in his sonata which recalls the mood and spirit of Bax's Celtic-inspired earlier works. Wauters expresses his disappointement with the increasing lack of communication among people with his short, tart, discordant (but tonal and completely in the romantic tradition) 12-minute sonata of 2000.
