Description: Some rather rare material in this collection of 15 arias inspired either by birds (seven) or love in general (eight, although birds make appearances here too), by French, Italian, English and German baroque composers. All but one are from operas or, in Purcell's case, a masque and nine are claimed by Carus as first recordings. Accompaniment is supplied by a range of recorders and flutes (five players) and continuo. German/French/Italian-English texts.
