Description: The soft, pastel colors of the viola da gamba are perfectly matched with the Walter fortepiano (copy) here in Bach's Empfindsamkeit-style sonatas from the 1740s and work just as well with Abel's later (1781) but stylistically conservative sonata which was apparently meant for Friedrich Wilhelm, King of Prussia. This is the only recording available of Abel's sonata. Rebeka Rusó (viola da gamba), Sebastian Wienand (fortepiano).
