Description: This DVD apparently was released in the U.S. in 2003 and then went out of print. We never had it so we offer it now as a new-release-reissue. The opera had one of the first on-stage "mad scenes", Paisiello providing vividly characterised music to represent Nina's scattered mental state. Bartoli, not exactly known for her stone-facedness, was acclaimed both for her voice and for her emoting in a role where she could cut loose. Nice staging and lighting; period costumes. A 2002 production Cecilia Bartoli, Juliette Galstian (mezzos), Jonas Kaufmann (tenor), László Polgár (bass), Angelo Veccia (baritone), Chorus and Orchestra of the Zürich Opera House; Adam Fischer. 16:9 widescreen. PCM stereo or DTS 5.1. NTSC region 0. 120 min. + 49 min. documentary on Paisiello.
