Description: You don't have to believe the crackpot theories of the Italian professor who thinks that most of the famous late works of Haydn and Mozart were actually written by Luchesi (this can be found in the booklet to the Tactus release we offered in June 2007 [06I040]) to realize that this composer is completely undeserving of his almost total obscurity. These sonatas (all single-movement but two) are very reminisicent of both Mozart and Haydn and pianist/editor Pietro Spada adds Cherubini's piano music to the list as well. Don't forget, Luchesi did succeed Beethoven's father at the court in Bonn and was there from 1771 to 1794. Roberto Plano (piano).
