Description: Written between 1901 and 1923, Quilter's piano pieces range from the Delian Impressionism of Rosamund in the four-piece suite Where the Rainbow Ends (incidental music for a children's fairy play and a world premiere recording) to the Bartókian vehemence and rhythmic attack of At a Country Fair from his op. 16. In between are the rest of these colorful miniatures, some of which may remind you of Grainger, others of high-quality salon music, others sharply etched impressions of landscapes, moods and goblins (well, two separate pieces deal with them!). David Owen Norris (piano).
