Description: Now that this sort of "mainstream serialism" of the 1950s Darmstadt kind is part of history, various regional composers are being revived and celebrated for their work in establishing modernism in their countries. Here is the third Gunnar Berg disc in the last four years, offering more or less exacting and rigorous examples of his personal uses of the technique from 1954 to 1969 while including a six-minute Pièce from 1949, after completing studies with Honegger in Paris, which was the last non-atonal work the composer wrote. Signe Asmussen (mezzo), Erik Kaltoft (piano), Signe Madsen, Arne Balk-Møller (violins), Niels Ullner, John Ehde (cellos), Per Morten Bye (trumpet), Torben Snekkestad (sax), Kenneth Larsen (bass clarinet), Søren Monrad (marimba).
