Description: Very little of Erlebach's massive œuvre survived a 1735 fire in the Rudolstadt castle where he spent his entire career but these overtures show a complete understanding of the Lullian genre. Two of the arias (from a collection of 50) are almost operatic and the third shows an early adaptation of Italian and French with native German musical styles (a bit of which is also evident in the two 16-minute Ouvertures). German-English texts. Miriam Feuersinger (soprano), Franz Vitzthum (countertenor), Capricornus Consort Basel; Peter Barczi.
