Description: Rare for its period, the solo violin suite is an homage to Bach while the Salonstücke of 1849-50 are a colorful bouquet with the expected reminiscences of David's two great friends Mendelssohn and Schumann. The most difficult pieces technically are the Impromptus in which the brilliant violinist-composer also manages to make the piano an equal partner. Stephan Schardt (violin), Philipp Vogler (piano).
