Description: These sacred works for women's choir (the Cantica are settings of 14 familiar - i.e. Regina caeli, Salve Regina - and less familiar, i.e. O Doctor optime, Te Joseph celebrent - hymns) are in the Cecilian style promoted by the Pope in 1903, in which simplicity, respect for the text and restriction of theatrical effects and solo elements are predominant. De Vocht uses traditional major-minor modes but alternates syllabic setting with melismatic moments to accentuate the power of signifcant parts of the texts.
