Description: The sprawling Austro-Hungarian empire encompassed many different cultures, all of which had an effect on most of the composers working within its borders wherever that may have been. This collection of four previously issued discs and six released here for the first time - all of them live recordings from 2001-2009 - are as comprehensive a sampling of obscure repertoire as you're likely to find on CD. The documentation is, as befits the set's price, budget-quality; I've listed instrumentation where it's provided but it's not clear in each piece what instruments are being played and, as you might imagine, I have no time to listen to over 10 hours of music to figure it out! 10 CDs. Ars Antiqua Austria; Gunar Letzbor. Original 2002/2005/2006 Symphonia releases (CDs 1, 3-5). Rest are First Releases.
