JÓZEF ZEIDLER (1744-1806): Missa Pastorytia in G, ANTONI HABEL (1760-1831): Symphony in F.

Description: No dates are available for either of these works but both are in Classical style, Zeidler’s presumably being somewhat earlier. It’s a Christmas Pastoral Mass like those also popular in the Bohemian lands in the same period and uses folklike melodic and rhythmic material, only Polish, in the same way. Habel’s four-movement symphony of 18 minutes’ length is Haydnesque and valuable addition to the not extensive Classical Polish symphony lists.
