Description: This D'Annunzio tragedia pastorale was premiered in December 1954, one of the late operas which, along with Assassinio nella cattedrale and Ifigenia, showed a rejuvenation in a composer whose creativity in the 30s had stagnated. Specialists will want this off-the-air taping (clear and distortion-free but you can hear the station on the neighboring frequency in very quiet passages) but they will have to be content with a short summary of D'Annuzio's original play and its subsequent perfomance and film history - not a peep about Pizzetti or his music and nothing about this opera in particular. 2 CDs.
