Description: As long as record labels refuse to record one-composer discs by any Brazilian but Villa-Lobos, we will be compelled to add tiny pieces to our personal collections from such anthologies as this one. Everything here is nationalist in style except Miguéz and the youngest composer, Prado, whose 1974 "Celestial Charts" is a suite of music commissioned for use in a planetarium. At 19 minutes, this is the longest work here and its 21 segments each describe stars, galaxies or planets in a generally modern but approachable style. Eduardo Monteiro (piano).
